About
Join us for a performance by artist bones tan jones as they reflect on the life of Saint Sebastian through a history of song and spiritual devotion. This performance forms part of the Friday Late takeover by Ming Wong, 2025 Artist in Residence. His film 'Dance of the sun on the water | Saltatio solis in aqua', is based on the story of the martyr who was shot by archers.
Sebastian's Dream
Sebastian, alone in the desert heat, begins to dream a hallucinatory tale. a polyphony of voices, languages and timelines loop into each other, weaving words into myths, myths into song.
Accompanied by only their voice, bones tan jones invites you to deeply listen to these psalms like a prayer reverberating through the domed halls of the National Gallery and translate the cacophony into meaning.
bones tan jones
bones tan jones (b.1993 Liverpool) is a London-based artist, musician and performer. bones’s work is a spiritual practice that seeks to present an alternative, queer, optimistic dystopia. They work through ritual, meditating through craft, dancing through the veil betwixt nature and the other. bones weaves a mycelial web of diverse, eco-conscious narratives which aim to connect, enthrall and induce audiences to think more sustainably and ethically. Traversing pop music, sculpture, alter-egos, digital image and video work, bones sanctifies these mediums as tool's in their craft.
