About

2025 Artist in Residence, Ming Wong, presents a unique screening of his new film ‘Dance of the sun on the water | Saltatio solis in aqua’, brought to life with a live score. Wong’s film is based on paintings of Saint Sebastian and the landmark film ‘Sebastiane’ (1976) by British filmmaker Derek Jarman, setting the story inside the National Gallery itself.

The score will be performed live with musicians alongside the film score’s composer, Christopher Schlechte-Bond.

Christopher Schlechte-Bond

Christopher Schlechte-Bond is a London‑based composer whose work blends orchestral and electronic textures across film, television, theatre and the concert hall. His scores for 'Nachtwache', 'ManBaby' and 'A House in Pieces' have featured at festivals worldwide. A Prince William/BAFTA Scholar and Royal College of Music graduate, his bold, textural style draws on folk, world music and experimental influences. He has also collaborated with artist Ming Wong in the past, contributing music to 'Rhapsody in Yellow' for the 2022 Graz Steirischerherbst festival. His work has appeared on the BBC, Channel 4 and at major cultural venues.
